Artist’s statement

My practice is both an observational and an inquiring process that is informed by the polysemic nature of landscape. The work examines how we engage and experience place. It focuses on the western perspective of consumption and the idea that landscapes themselves are not natural but highly artificial constructions which have been created for particular types of use. I am therefore directing my gaze towards the visual elements of landscapes and identifying the close links and the aesthetic relationships between people and their environments.
